Exorbitant banh-mi cost more than 2,2 million VND in Saigon

Subtly located in the Ton That Dam street market (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), a store is making people surprise at launching special kinds of banh-mi for nearly 100 USD / pc.

Banh-mi is familiar for Vietnamese people, especially Saigon people. The average price is only 10 – 30 thousand dong depending on the type, meeting all criteria of delicious, complementary, cheap and convenient. But giving up 100 USD, equivalent to more than 2.2 million, for a loaf of banh-mi, not everyone easily nods and very rarely any bakery dares to sell such things.

But this super expensive banh-mi has just appeared in HCMC. Located just a small corner, hidden behind the market on Ton That Dam street, a restaurant has just introduced banh-mi of up to 100 USD / pc. Immediately it became one of the most expensive dishes in the world (according to the channel Best ever food review show on Youtube).

Explaining this expensive price, the restaurant manager said bread is cheap but the inside of this banh-mi is not cheap at all. The filling of 100 USD banh-mi is a combination of fatty foie gras (foie gras) and grilled pork ribs.

Cilantro, basil, mint, sliced ​​cucumber and carrot slices … are placed on top to harmonize the cake. Contributing to the price of $ 100 / loaf of banh-mi is the “appearance”; of sturgeon caviar, fried sweet potatoes and free champagne depending on the number of customers.

It is known that a piece of this banh-mi is very big, enough for 2-3 people to eat. For this special banh-mi, if you want to enjoy it, you must book a day in advance, make a 50% deposit or prepay 100 USD. “Only a month the store has been launched but the number of guests is increasing and they praise the quality. On average, there will be one customer every 2-3 days, mainly overseas Vietnamese and foreign visitors ” said the restaurant manager.
